Okay, so here is little Ridge's story! You can ask anybody I was not getting started this pregnancy! I was looking forward to the opportunity to actually go into labor and experience it. Well as the days got longer and I got fatter, the idea of getting started looked a little more appealing for me. So then we found out that Dax had a break in school that started the week before I was due, and that just sealed the deal. My original due dated was October 19th.
The Dr. says he will start me a week early, so we plan on having him on Friday the 12th. We have to be there at 7:30, so I wake up and get Navie ready to spend the day with grandma Lanet. It is taking us longer than we thought to get ready, Navie had a belly ache. So we were running a little bit late.
Dax ends up just dropping me off at the hospital and running Navie up to his moms on his own. I get checked in and they show me my room at about 8:30 and Dax shows up... PHEEWWW!! So they ask me my million questions and they hook me up to the IV to start the Pitocin. As soon as I am hooked up Dr. Bearer stops by to check on me and decides to break my water... The part that I dread!

An hour or so later contractions are getting closer and stronger, so I decide to have my epidural. How can a complete stranger just instantly become your best friend? I really was fine after the epidural, except for the oxygen machine kept on going off. It was making me nervous so we called the nurse. She came in and shut if off and said it was fine.

It did it again and again, so finally we called her back in. While she was in turning it off she offered to check me to see how I was dilated. I was at a 5 so she said she would come back after her lunch and check me again. Dax and I were just hanging out and less than 30 min later I knew that I was feeling pressure to push. I told Dax, but I didn't know if it was real because she just checked me a half our ago.

He finally makes me call the nurse and sure enough I was fully dilated and our sweet little baby was ready to come. The nurse decides to call Dr. Bierer and he was already on his way over. So our room goes from just me and Dax hanging out to a three ring circus in 5 minutes! The delivery nurses come in and set the bed up and they bring in the incubator and then walks in Dr. Bearer. All the while I am freaking out! It is not supposed to go this fast, I was anticipating a long day in labor and there is no way that my body is ready yet! Ready or not, three pushes later our little baby was out!

As soon as the doctor pulled him out, he peed on the Dr. Oh, that's my boy.. ha ha ha. Then they handed him to me and I just couldn't believe that he was finally there. Such a beautiful little baby with a full head of dark hair. He came out looking just like his dad! Then they took him to weigh and measure him and he peed on the nurses as well. Dax and I spent a few minutes alone with him, we could not believe we were parents again. Such a magical and surreal experience. Before I had him, we told the nurses to let us know when we should call our family. We wanted to tell them that it was getting close to come up to the hospital. It went so fast they barely made it. Navie came in first and she held her little brother. She kept on telling him "Hi baby brother" in a sweet little voice. She was so proud of her I am a big sister shirt that she made and was wearing. She held him for about one minute and and she was done.

Then the grandpa Scott, Mitzi, Grandma Lanet, and Grandpa Keith came in to see him. Everyone loved to see him and hold him. Navie was fine not holding the baby until somebody else wanted to hold him, then she HAD to hold her brother first.
The hospital stay went by in a blur. The funnest part was our best friends Brian and Lisa had their baby at 5:00 Sunday morning and were put in the hospital room right next to ours. Ridge had his little girlfriend Tayah right next door! We are so thankful that everything went good and that we came home with a beautiful healthy little boy!

...{me}...

Hey! I am a mommy of two little ones, Navie (4), and Ridge(1). I have a great hubby, Dax, who works hard at a local software company. I do a little of this, and a lot of that. I work as a computer consultant a couple mornings a week, take a picture or two in my spare time, and make anything that I can! Life is good!
