So I had envisioned this great post, listing all of the many things that I am thankful for. I keep thinking and thinking, and mentally adding things to my list. I don't know why, but I keep thinking that I am thankful for the ability to type. I have read many thankful lists on blogs, and I am pretty sure that it was not a one of them. Why not? Ha, it wouldn't be so weird if I didn't think of it at least 10 times in the last week. Anyway, I am pretty sure that I am going to forgo the thankful list this year, and just do a short recap of thanksgiving. I will grace you with what Navie is thankful for (out of her mouth).
Navie's list of things that she is thankful for
1. The car and truck so it can take her to Jenny's house (my friend that babysits the kids on the days that I go to work, her girls are Navie's best friends!)
2. Electricity, so we can turn it off, so we can save the batteries
3. Signs in the stores that tell you when they are open and closed
4. Mom, dad, Brother (she made sure she told us brother a few times), and her cousins
5. James and Zack (our cute neighbor boys, that are Navies other best friends)
We scored this year, and our families timed thanksgiving perfectly so we could eat not just one dinner, but three! Yep, you heard that right, THREE! What a great day Thanksgiving is, a day to celebrate food. Ha ha. We started the first meal at my grandma's house (dad's side). When I think of Thanksgiving as a child, this is what I think about. Sitting with my cousin Lane, eating nothing but turkey, jello, and a roll with a lot of jam on it. My family all piles into my grandma's house (I would guess close to 40 of us), and eats a great lunch. This year, I took on the task of making my great Aunt Inez's famous chocolate pie. I am proud of myself, it actually turned out great!
My dad is building a new house across the street from the house I grew up in. When I was younger, there was a huge tree house in this tree that he had built for us. We had a rope swing similar to the new one, just a little bit higher. My dad decided that the grandkids needed the same, so he went and bought a rope to let the kids swing out of it. THEY LOVE IT! Navie has no fear. Why is it SO much more scary, when you are a parent watching your little one fly out of the tree? I have to admit, she convinced me to try it, and it really is scary!
Then we headed to Dax's aunt Lorrie's house. We had another fabulous dinner and just hung out together and talked for a while after dinner.
The kid's just went into Lorrie's playroom and destroyed it! At least they had fun ;)!
Then last but not least, we went with my Mom's side of the family. My camera didn't make it out at the last stop. It must have been exhaustion from eating so much turkey. We had a ton of fun there and just sat around chit chatting.
Oh, and can't forget to post a pic of two tired and worn shopping sista's! Me and Mitzi get up bright and early every black Friday, and shop away. I am so THANKFUL for my sister, and our shopping outings!
We had a great thanksgiving. There really is so much that I am thankful for, so maybe I'll have to save that for a post all by itself!
